Children & families

Children and families are very welcome at St John Payne. The parish has several groups and activities for younger children, older children and families, both during Sunday Mass and through the week.

Please check the latest newsletter for current dates and times, as parish activities may change during school holidays.

Children’s Liturgy

Children’s Liturgy takes place during the 10.45am Sunday Mass.

Children leave after the opening prayers and return for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. This gives them time to hear and respond to the Sunday readings in a way that is suitable for their age, before coming back to the main church for the rest of Mass.

Children’s Choir

Children aged 7 and above are welcome to join our children’s singing group in the church hall on Saturday mornings from 10.00am to 11.15am. Parents need to accompany children. Find out more on our Music page.

J.O.Y.FUL Club

The J.O.Y.FUL Club is our parish club for children aged 5 to 13. Sessions take place in the church hall on Saturday mornings, usually from 11.15am to 12.45pm. Please check the newsletter for the next date.

Lego Club

Lego Club meets in the church hall on Saturdays from 11.30am to 1.30pm. Children must be accompanied, refreshments are provided, and all are welcome. Please check the newsletter for the next date.

Young people aged 11 to 16 are welcome.
